April 21, 2008
Meeting to focus on providing information and gathering public input on plans to resurface the highway with added safety improvements.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Regional Office in Waukesha is announcing a public information meeting to introduce the planning and engineering that is about to begin for the resurfacing and additional safety improvements to US 18 (Moreland Boulevard & Bluemound Road) between Manhattan Drive in Waukesha and 124th Street in Elm Grove. This work will further enhance the median improvements to be constructed during 2008 along the US 18 segment between Barker Road and Moorland Road. The meeting is scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Swanson Elementary School Gymnasium, 305 North Calhoun Road, Brookfield.
This meeting will have an informal, open house format, with display maps and representatives from WisDOT available to discuss the proposed project and to address questions and concerns. Improvements being considered as part of rehabilitating this seven miles of roadway include: minor geometric modifications at certain intersections, median closures, consolidated driveways, potential frontage roads, storm sewer, utility and traffic signal modifications. Additional turn lanes at the Bluemound Road/Barker Road intersection and adjustments to the Moreland Boulevard/Kossow Road intersection are anticipated. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning this project.
