Work slated to begin on WIS 74 in Waukesha County

April 21, 2008

Public meeting scheduled April 29th prior to construction

Work is scheduled to begin the week of May 5 on a $7.7 million contract to improve WIS 74 in Waukesha County.

A public meeting will be held April 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Willow Springs Learning Center Gymnasium, located at W220 N6660 Town Line Road, Menomonee Falls, to discuss the upcoming construction. “The first project will reconstruct WIS 74 from Waukesha Avenue in Sussex to Good Hope Road; the second project will rehabiliate WIS 74 from Good Hope Road to Elder Lane,” said Jeanne Marchant, project leader with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). “Crews will add concrete and asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, lighting, signs, pavement markings, new signals and a roundabout at McLaughlin Road/County V,” Marchant noted.

The meeting will be an open-house format. The community is encouraged to attend anytime from 5 to 7 p.m. The project team and contractor will be available to provide information and answer questions.

The Willow Springs Learning Center is wheelchair accessible. Hearing-impaired citizens may request an interpreter by contacting Jeanne Marchant at (262) 548-6452 or via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (1-800-WI-RELAY).

Construction on this project will take place in stages. Lane closures will occur during construction.

The contractor, James Peterson Sons Inc., is expected to complete work by mid November, weather permitting.

A combination of state and local funds will pay for the project.
