Governor Jim Doyle approves WIS 22/54 improvements in Waupaca County

April 28, 2008

As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $1.2 million contract to improve 0.36 miles of WIS 22/54 between Godfrey Drive and Royalton Street in Waupaca County.

Construction is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2008.

American Asphalt of Mosinee is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will construct a roundabout at the Waupaca Bypass and Royalton intersection.

Construction is scheduled for completion by August 15, 2008, according to Kevin Garrigan, Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) project manager.

The roadway will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction all times during construction. Motorists can expect to encounter flagging operations.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds, the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
