Governor Doyle approves $157,895 project at Adams County Airport

April 30, 2008

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $157,895 project to develop the hangar area at the Adams County Legion Field Airport. The Governor's action releases $3,947 in state funds for the project, which will include a new taxi lane through the hangar area and roadway along the side for improved access. Adams County is contributing $3,948, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $150,000.

According to Eric Johnson, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will provide an expanded hangar area that will be available for individuals and businesses to construct hangar space at the Adams County Airport. The anticipated increase in business and corporate activity at the airport will be an economic benefit for everyone.

The project is scheduled to begin in June 2008 and should be completed by December 2009.

Adams County Legion Field is located about one mile east of the villages of Adams and Friendship. It has one paved runway, 3,400 feet in length, and one turf strip, 3,300 feet in length. Approximately 18 single engine aircraft are based at the airport and a total of 7,000 take-offs and landings occur each year.
