Governor Jim Doyle approves Kowalski Road overpass improvements in Marathon County

April 30, 2008

As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $3.9 million contract to reconstruct the Kowalski Road overpass in Marathon County.

Construction is scheduled to begin in May 5, 2008.

Lunda Construction of Black River Falls is the prime contractor for the project.

Construction is scheduled for completion by mid-November 2008, according to Mark Steidl, WisDOT Project Manager.

Kowalski Road will be closed to all traffic beginning May 12 until early August.  Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout construction. Periodic lane closures on I-39/US 51 will be necessary during off-peak hours.

The project will be paid for with state and local funds.
