Public information meeting scheduled May 12 for US 53 in City of Osseo

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting on Monday, May 12, 2008 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Osseo City Hall, to discuss a plan to reconstruct US 53/Harmony Street from Park Avenue to the US 10 intersection.

The WisDOT is proposing to reconstruct that portion of highway in 2010. The work would involve replacing the existing pavement, adding turn lanes and overlaying the bridge over the south fork of the Buffalo River, near the Lake Martha dam.

During construction, Harmony Street will be closed to thru traffic. Access will be maintained to homes and businesses within the project. Alternate routes will be made available for local motorists through most stages of the project.

The May 12 meeting will follow an informal open house format with a short presentation at 5 p.m. WisDOT engineers will be available to answer questions and discuss project specifics and WisDOT real estate specialists will be available to talk to property owners impacted by the project.
