Public information meeting scheduled May 15 for WIS 27
May 5, 2008
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at the Barnes Town Hall in Bayfield County, to discuss planned improvements to WIS 27 from the Sawyer/Bayfield County line to the Douglas County line.
A series of improvements are planned for approximately 14 miles of WIS 27 beginning in the summer of 2009 and continuing through the summer of 2010. They include:
- Realigning Lake Road and Twin Bay/East Shore Road intersections
- Installing new culvert pipes and restore ditch drainage
- Pulverizing existing pavement and incorporating it into the new road base
- Decreasing erosion problems and vehicle roll-over potential by flattening roadway slope
- Increasing paved shoulder and lane widths
WIS 27 will be open to through traffic during the 2010 construction project. Local traffic for both of the projects will have access at all times.
The March 15, 2008 meeting will follow an informal open house format with a short presentation at 6 p.m. WisDOT engineers will be available to answer questions and discuss project specifics and WisDOT real estate specialists will be available to talk to property owners impacted by the project.
The meeting site is handicapped accessible. Hearing impaired individuals may request special accommodations by calling Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay System (TTY) at 1-800-947-3529.
