WisDOT schedules WIS 29 corridor preservation public information meeting for May 21
May 7, 2008
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting the fourth public information meeting for the WIS 29 Preservation Plan (Ringle to Wittenberg) - between County Q and US 45.
The meeting is scheduled Wednesday, May 21, 2008, from 5 -7 p.m., at the village of Hatley Library/Community Center, 435 Curtis Avenue (County Y). A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format.
The purpose of the public information meeting is to share details regarding the preferred alternative and obtain input on the long-term vision for the WIS 29 corridor. The preferred alternative has been refined from input received at prior meetings with the public and local officials. Exhibits will be on display and attendees will be given the opportunity to provide written or verbal comments. WisDOT staff will also be on hand to answer questions.
The WIS 29 Preservation Plan will ultimately develop a long-term vision for the corridor with the goal of officially designating, mapping, and preserving the corridor as a freeway. As a freeway, at-grade intersections are replaced by well-spaced interchange(s), overpasses, cul-de-sacs, and a local transportation network to safely balance the access and mobility needs of the area. Developing a long-term highway access plan will allow WisDOT and local communities to collectively plan for compatible transportation and land use systems.
The WIS 29 Preservation Plan is currently scheduled for completion in late 2008. A formal public hearing will be conducted at that time.
There are no immediate projects or construction dollars programmed for these proposed changes to WIS 29.
