Work completed since last update:
Traffic was switched over to the westbound lanes to begin removing pavement in the eastbound
lanes. Existing pavement has been removed. Sanitary sewer work has begun at Stuntz Avenue and is
moving west toward Ellis Avenue.
Anticipated work schedule for week of May 12, 2008:
The contractor is expected to complete the removal of the existing concrete pavement in the eastbound lanes. Sanitary sewer work, including the main and possibly some service connections, will continue between Stuntz Avenue and Ellis Avenue. Another crew is expected to complete a water main adjustment near 6th Avenue west and begin storm sewer work near Stuntz Avenue. The contractor will also begin excavating for the first half of the pedestrian underpass near 6th Avenue West. Some temporary sheet piling will be required there to support the half of the roadway that remains open to traffic.
Utility crews will continue working on some preliminary adjustments and/or relocations of gas and electric facilities to make way for the roadway contractor.
Traffic will continue one lane in each direction on westbound US 2.The alternate route on Beaser Avenue, 6th Street, and Stuntz Avenue will be signed and signalized as soon as possible.
