Public information meeting May 19 for WIS 144 in Sheboygan County

Project scheduled for 2013

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) NE Region office at Green Bay has announced a public meeting for an improvement project on WIS 144 in Sheboygan County. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 19, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Silver Creek Fire Station Hall on WIS 144 in Silver Creek.

The project includes:

  • Mill and resurface WIS 144 from WIS 28 to WIS 57.
  • Widen asphalt from WIS 28 to Silver Creek to correct shoulder failure.
  • Extend existing box culverts to provide safer roadway slope.
  • Widen both lanes from 10 to 11 feet in Silver Creek. Raise curb and gutter to match pavement surface and improve drainage.
  • Add right turn lanes at County DE and County I.
  • Improve vision at Lynn Road by cutting back the hills.
  • Extend curb and gutter from Mink Creek structure to Riverview Road to improve drainage.
  • Repair and overlay bridge decks over both Mink Creek crossings, North Branch Milwaukee River and Allen Road.

Additional right of way is required for this project.

The roadway will be closed to through traffic during construction. Local traffic will be allowed access to property and businesses along WIS 144. This project is currently scheduled for construction in 2013.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed design will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

The facility is wheelchair accessible. Individuals unable to attend the meeting, or who would like more information may contact project manager Paul Brauer at (920) 492-0135.  Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Paul Brauer, WisDOT, P.O. Box 28080, Green Bay, WI  54324-0080. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and who require an interpreter may request one by contacting Paul Brauer at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin telecommunications Relay system (dialing 711).
