June 2, 2008
Hearing to be held at town of Mosel Town Hall
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) NE Region office at Green Bay is announcing a public hearing on the I-43 event-only Draft Interstate Access Justification Report (IAJR) in the town of Mosel, Sheboygan County. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mosel Town Hall/ Fire Station, W982 County Road FF, Sheboygan County. A brief presentation will be made at 5:15 p.m.
The town of Mosel event-only interchange is proposed at I-43 and Rowe Road to handle event traffic for future large national golf tournaments at Whistling Straits including the 2010 and 2015 PGA Championship and the 2020 Ryder Cup. Adding an event-only interchange will improve safety on I-43, maintain access to businesses during the events and provide necessary access to future golf events held at Whistling Straits.
WisDOT staff will be available for informal discussion of the proposal. Exhibits of the proposal will also be on display. There will be no relocation of persons or businesses as a result of the proposed improvement.
The public is invited to attend the hearing and present relevant oral and/or written testimony
concerning the general location aspects of the proposed improvement; the social, economic, and
environmental impacts and effects of the proposed improvement; and whether the improvement is in
the public interest and consistent with the goals and objectives of area planning. Persons
with an interest in, or knowledge about historical and archaeological resources in the project area
are invited to present this information as well.
Provisions have been made for the submission of written statements or other exhibits in place
of or in addition to the testimony presented at the public hearing. This additional testimony
will be included in the hearing transcript if postmarked not later than June 30, 2008. Mail
this additional testimony to Rob Wagner, Project Manager, WisDOT, NE Region, 944 Vanderperren Way,
P.O.Box 28080, Green Bay, WI 53424-0080.
WisDOT will review all comments and testimony presented and reserves the right to make a
final determination upon the proposal as described in this notice.
