Governor approves US 63 highway improvement project in Bayfield County

July 11, 2008

As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $2.8 million contract to asphalt resurface US 63 from Hayward – Drummond Road and Sunset Road to County N.

Northwoods Paving, a Division of Mathy, is the contractor for the project. This project includes milling and resurfacing existing asphalt, improving shoulders for five-foot bike lanes, upgrading five intersections and replacing permanent signs.

Construction is scheduled for August 2008 through October 2008. The project will be completed under traffic. There may be single lane restrictions to traffic, but they will not exceed one mile in length during daytime hours. Flaggers will also be used.

State transportation funds will pay 100 percent of the project costs.
