Governor approves WIS 87 and WIS 48 highway improvement projects in Polk and Burnett Counties
July 11, 2008
As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $4.2 million contract to resurface and make safety improvements on WIS 87 and WIS 48 from Cushing to Grantsburg and Frederic to Grantsburg.
Monarch Paving, a Division of Mathy, is the contractor for the project. This project includes milling and resurfacing the existing pavement. It also includes sign replacement, beam guard replacement and adding paved shoulders on WIS 87.
Construction is scheduled for August 2008 through October 2008. Flag persons will be used for the moving operations traffic control.
Federal transportation funds will pay 80 percent of the project costs with state transportation
funds paying the remaining 20 percent. Local transportation funds will pay $17,300 for parking
lanes and adjusting manhole covers.
