WisDOT schedules WIS 29 right-of-way preservation public information meeting July 30
July 16, 2008
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting for the WIS 29 Right-of-Way Preservation Plan from Wittenberg to the Shawano/Brown County line. This will be the last public information meeting (PIM) conducted before the final recommendations are made and presented at an official public hearing.
The PIM is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Shawano Community High School, 220 County Road B, Shawano. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format.
WisDOT officials will present the concept plans for the corridor and listen to any feedback on the proposed locations of interchanges, overpasses and local access roads.
The WIS 29 Right-of-Way Preservation Plan will ultimately develop a long-term vision for the corridor with the goal of officially designating, mapping, and preserving the corridor as a freeway. Developing a long-term highway access plan will allow both WisDOT and local communities to collectively plan for compatible transportation and land use systems.
There are no immediate project or construction dollars programmed for this segment of WIS 29. Future conversion projects would likely be programmed, funded, and constructed over a number of decades.
Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, may contact Mark Ratty by phone at (715) 365-5752, or in writing to 510 N. Hanson Lake Road, Rhinelander, WI 54501. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Mark Ratty at least three working days prior to the meeting, or via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (dialing 711).
