Replacement Sesquicentennial license plates unavailable after August 1
July 18, 2008
Replacement Sesquicentennial license plates, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Wisconsin's
statehood, will soon be unavailable due to an exhausted supply of the limited-edition plate
material. The popular plate has not been originally issued since 1998, and there are approximately
209,000 still on the road.
Customers who currently own Sesquicentennial license plates may continue to renew their
plates. Customer requests for replacements received by the DMV before August 1 will be
honored. Customer requests for replacements received by the DMV on or after August 1 will receive
regular design non-personalized license plates free of charge if the request is mailed to the
address on the MV2118 replacement license plate application,
MV2118 -
Replacement or
duplicate license plate application. Customers requesting to replace personalized
Sesquicentennial plates with regular personalized plates must submit a fee of $15. A revised MV2118
replacement license plate application with corresponding instructions for replacing existing
Sesquicentennial plates will be made available August 1.
