Governor Doyle approves $150,198 project at Iowa County Airport
October 1, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $150,198 project to purchase snow removal equipment at the Iowa
County Airport. The Governor's action releases $3,755 in state funds for the project and Iowa
County is contributing another $3,755. The Federal Aviation Administration is providing $142,688.
According to Andy Trimble, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the new equipment will make it possible to clear the airport pavements more quickly
and efficiently during snow conditions.
The snow removal equipment is being purchased for use this season and is scheduled for
delivery before the end of the year.
The Iowa County Airport is located three miles northwest of the city of Mineral Point. The
airport encompasses 309 acres and consists of two runways, connecting taxiways, aprons, an entrance
road, parking lot and terminal building.
