Public meeting Feb. 24 for WIS 54 in Brown County

Project located within the Oneida Nation and the village of Hobart

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a public information meeting to discuss proposed improvements for WIS 54 within the Oneida Nation and the village of Hobart. The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at WisDOT’s NE Region office, 944 Vanderperren Way, Green Bay. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m.

The proposed improvements begin immediately west of Seminary Road to just west of WIS 172. Work includes:

  • Replacement of the Duck Creek bridge approximately 160 feet north of existing WIS 54.
  • Converting the existing Duck Creek bridge to accommodate pedestrian and bicycle use.
  • Widening of the roadway to provide a left turn lane and right turn lane at the WIS 54 intersection with East Service Road/County U.
  • A roundabout at WIS 54 and Seminary Road.
  • Pavement rehabilitation from Seminary Road to West Service Road/County U.

The project is currently scheduled for construction in 2011.

The public is encouraged to attend. Interested citizens are also asked to share any knowledge about historic buildings and structures, archaeological sites, septic systems, drain tiles, or drainage problems within or adjacent to the project area.
