WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) corridor study to be presented at Mar. 18 information meeting
March 9, 2009
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region in Waukesha will hold a public information meeting to discuss the corridor study currently underway for WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) from WIS 16 to Brookfield Road in Waukesha County. The informal, open house meeting is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 18, 2009 at Pewaukee City Hall (council chambers), N240 N3065 Pewaukee Road.
The purpose of the study is to develop a long range plan for improving traffic flow and safety on Capitol Drive, preserving its traffic carrying capacity, and protecting the land needed for future transportation improvements. The study will evaluate alternatives for widening Capitol Drive from four to six lanes with options for widening in the existing median or to the outside. Proposed improvements also include upgrading existing intersections and interchanges.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning the study. Maps showing preliminary alternatives and other information about the Capitol Drive corridor will be on display, and WisDOT staff will be available to discuss the study. Interested persons may stop in anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. to review the displays, visit with the project team and share comments or concerns. The meeting facility is wheelchair accessible. Persons with hearing impairments who want to request an interpreter for the meeting should call the Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay System (dial 711). To allow time for arranging assistance, please call no later than three working days prior to the meeting.
Persons who are unable to attend the meeting can find out more about the Capitol Drive corridor study by contacting the WisDOT project manager listed below. There will be additional public information meetings as the study progresses.
