Construction update for WIS 172 in Brown County

March 23, 2009

Ashwaubomay River Trail also affected

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) NE Region in Green Bay is announcing WIS 172 from Webster Ave to I-43 will be reduced to one lane eastbound and one lane westbound beginning Monday, Mar. 30.  Also, the posted speed limit of 65 mph is being reduced to 55 mph in this area. The lane closures and speed reduction will be in effect through the end of July.

There will also be short-term ramp closures during off-peak hours. These closures will be announced as they become available. WisDOT continues to urge motorists to use alternate routes.

Portion of Ashwaubomay River Trail closing

The Ashwaubomay River Trail is scheduled to close at WIS 172 in Ashwaubenon for a few days during the week of Mar. 26 through Apr. 3. The closure is needed to allow crews to remove the existing deck of the Fox River Bridge located above the trail. The trail will also need to be closed for a day or two later in April when the contractor is forming the new deck overhead.
