Public meeting Apr. 15 for area road improvements in Mauston

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region in LaCrosse and the city of Mauston will conduct a public information meeting to discuss the proposed redesign of WIS 58/82 through Mauston.
The meeting will be held on Apr. 15, 2009, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Mauston City Hall, 303 Mansion Street. A brief project overview presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will be conducted in an open house format. The public is encouraged to attend. This meeting will be held to solicit comments and opinions from the general public and area property owners regarding the project plans.
The project involves reconstructing Grayside Avenue and Union Street from Division Street to Mansion Street. Upon completion of the project, WIS 58/82 will be redesigned from Division Street and State Street to the improved Grayside Avenue and Union Street. The proposed improvement includes pavement replacement, curb and gutter construction, sidewalk, and terrace construction, storm sewer modifications, and intersection improvements. Project construction is scheduled for 2012.
Representatives from WisDOT and the engineering consulting firm of MSA Professional Services, Inc., as well as representatives from the city of Mauston will be available to explain exhibits and answer questions on aspects of the proposed project. Persons with a concern for or knowledge about historic buildings and structures and archaeological sites are encouraged to attend this meeting or provide comments to the local unit of government or MSA Professional Services, Inc.
