Public meeting scheduled May 11 for US 12/Phillips Boulevard project in Sauk City

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public information meeting to provide updates on construction staging operations for the reconstruction of US 12/ Phillips Boulevard from Lueders Road to John Adams Street, Sauk City. The meeting is scheduled for 5 - 7 p.m., Monday, May 11, at the River Arts Center, 105 Ninth Avenue, Prairie du Sac.
The US 12 reconstruction project is approximately one mile in length beginning at the intersection of Lueders Road and extending east to John Adams Street in Sauk City. The purpose of the project is to provide additional capacity to safely and efficiently accommodate regional and local traffic and provide for pedestrians and bicycles. Two travel lanes in each direction with a two-way-left-turn-lane (TWLTL) from Lueders Road to Dallas Street and no TWLTL from Dallas Street to John Adams Street is proposed. On-street bike lanes and new sidewalk are proposed for the entire length of the project. US 12 is proposed to remain open to through vehicular traffic. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2010.
The public is encouraged to attend this meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning the project. Maps showing the proposed improvements and construction staging operations will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
