Public meeting April 29 for US 2 in Douglas County

Meeting to focus on gathering knowledge and noting public concerns

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region in Superior is announcing a public information meeting to discuss preliminary design for the reconditioning of US 2 / Belknap Street from Hill Avenue to East 2nd Street in the city of Superior. The meeting is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. on April 29, 2009 at the Government Center, 1316 North 14th Street, Superior WI 54880.

Preliminary pavement design concepts are being considered for the proposed pavement replacement. Also included are a railroad crossing upgrade with improved vision triangles at the railroad crossing, upgrade of the pedestrian intersection crossing at East 2nd Street, spot replacement of sidewalk and streetlights as necessary and repairs to sanitary sewer and water utilities as necessary. This meeting will be in an open house format.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
