Governor approves $272,414 project at Ephraim-Fish Creek Airport
May 6, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $272,414 project to install a fueling system at the Ephraim-Fish
Creek Airport in Door County. The Governor's action releases $6,810 in state funds to design and
construct a fueling system. The village of Ephraim and the town of Gibraltar are contributing
$6,811, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $258,793.
According to David E. Montesinos, airport development engineer with the state Department of
Transportation, the project will not only bring the fueling system up to date and up to code, but
also provide customers with a card reading option to enable 24-hour fuel sales.
The project is scheduled to begin in April 2009 and should be completed by November 2009.
Facilities at the Ephraim-Fish Creek Airport include a 2,700-foot paved runway and a
1,980-foot turf airstrip. There are 17 aircraft based at the airport and approximately 9,000
aircraft take-offs and landings each year.
