Governor Doyle approves $1,684,211 project at Outagamie County Airport

May 6, 2009

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $1,684,211 project to replace the airport perimeter fence at the Outagamie County Regional Airport in Appleton. The Governor's action releases $42,105 in state funds towards the project, and Outagamie County is contributing $42,106. The Federal Aviation Administration is providing $1,600,000.

According to Andrew Trimble, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will increase security at the airport and will help protect the traveling public, as well as area wildlife.

The project is expected to begin in the spring of 2009 and should be completed by summer 2009.

The Outagamie County Regional Airport is home to 52 single-engine, 13 multi-engine and 4 jet aircraft, and is served by four airlines. All together, there are nearly 50,000 take-offs and landings at the airport each year.
