State suspends license of Green Bay auto dealer
May 6, 2009
Numerous violations resulted in a temporary suspension
The motor vehicle dealer license of a Green Bay area dealership was suspended by the state of Wisconsin for two calendar days. An investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles' Dealer and Agent Section found that Auto Haus on Velp, Inc., 1280 Velp Avenue, Green Bay, violated a number of state laws when it:
- failed to pay off the liens on eight trade-in vehicles within 14 days,
- sold motor vehicles for which liens and encumbrances had not been paid, and
- submitted applications for title certificates without payment of liens.
The state Department of Administration's Division of Hearings and Appeals found that these
violations warranted the suspension of Auto Haus on Velp's motor vehicle dealer's license. The
suspension was effective Apr. 10 through Apr. 12, 2009.
While suspended, the dealership could not engage in any activity that required a motor
vehicle dealer license. Any future violations could result in the loss of the dealership's motor
vehicle dealer license. Auto Haus on Velp agreed to allow agents or employees of WisDOT to inspect
all business records necessary to verify compliance with the Order Suspending License.
