Meeting May 20 for WIS 57 in Sheboygan County

May 7, 2009

Public invited to comment on access control study

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a public information meeting to gather comments about WIS 57 access control measures in Sheboygan County. The meeting will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the town of Rhine Town Hall, W5250 County Road FF, Elkhart Lake from 5 to 7 p.m. A short presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. No construction or other highway improvements are planned as part of this Controlled Access Project.

The access control project is 9.4 miles in length. It begins at the intersection of WIS 23 and WIS 57, extending northerly along WIS 57 to the north Sheboygan County Line.

Maps and exhibits showing the proposed access control will be available for review. The public is invited to attend. WisDOT staff will be available to explain the project, and answer questions.

WisDOT’s goal is to accommodate the current use of the land along the roadway and preserve the existing access while accommodating future development by working closely with the communities adjacent to WIS 57.

Persons unable to attend the meeting can make their comments or receive information concerning this project by contacting Patrick Laux, Northeast Region, P.O. Box 28080, 944 Vanderperren Way, Green Bay, WI  54324-0080. The meeting site is wheelchair accessible.  Citizens who are hearing-impaired and who require an interpreter may request one by contacting Patrick Laux at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (dial 711).
