May 8, 2009

Public information meeting scheduled for May 14

Crews are planning to begin the reconstruction of WIS 13 from Marathon County N to Wausau Street in the city of Colby May 18. Improvements include:

  • Reconstruction of the highway
  • Curb and gutter and sidewalk installation
  • New streetlights
  • Storm sewer installation
  • Intersection improvements at WIS 13 and Spence Street

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is conducting a public information meeting on Thursday, May 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Colby City Hall, 211 W. Spence Street, in the Council Chambers Room. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will be an open house format.

During construction, WIS 13 will remain open to traffic. Crews will stage construction to allow for one lane in each direction. Motorists can expect to encounter daytime flagging operations and potential delays.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late November 2009.  Construction-related traffic impacts are subject to change and are dependent on favorable weather conditions.

Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, can contact Kristin McHugh at (715) 421-8380. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Kristin McHugh, 1681 Second Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54495.
