Public information meeting for WIS 22 in the town of Belle Plaine May 27

May 13, 2009

Meeting to focus on the Wolf River bridge replacement

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting to discuss preliminary design concepts for the reconstruction of the Wolf River bridge and approaches. The bridge is located on WIS 22 - between the westbound WIS 29 ramps and the Shawano County B intersection - in the town of Belle Plaine.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Shawano High School Library, 220 County Road B, Shawano, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format. WisDOT staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the project on an individual basis.

The proposed project includes the removal and reconstruction of the Wolf River bridge and approaches. Improvements also include the construction of a two-lane bridge and reconstruction of the Riverbend Road/Eagle Nest Lane intersection to accommodate turn lanes. Right-of-way and temporary easements will be required for the proposed improvements. Construction is currently scheduled for 2011.

Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, may contact Fred McCue at (715) 365-5742. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Fred McCue at 510 North Hanson Lake Road, Rhinelander, WI 54501. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and who require an interpreter may request one by contacting Fred McCue at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (dialing 711).
