WIS 144 project to start week of May 25 in Washington County
May 14, 2009
As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has approved an $1.5 million project to improve WIS 144 in Washington County.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of May 25 to resurface five miles of WIS 144 from County NN
to WIS 33. “The pavement is in poor condition and needs updating,” said Doug Cain, project manager
with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). “Work on this project will include
resurfacing the asphalt roadway and preventative maintenance work,” Cain noted.
Traffic will be maintained on WIS 144 throughout construction. Flagging operations and lane
closures may be used during the course of the project.
The contractor, Stark Asphalt, is scheduled to complete the project by the end of July, weather permitting.
A combination of federal and state funds will pay for the project.
