Public meeting June 1 for WIS 16 project in Columbia County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region in Madison is announcing a public information meeting to discuss the pavement replacement project on WIS 16 from Otsego Road to WIS 60, Columbia County. The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009, at the Fall River Fire Station, 450 South Street, Fall River.

The WIS 16 project is approximately 7.6 miles in length beginning at the intersection of Otsego Road and extending east to approximately WIS 60. The purpose of the project is to provide an improved driving surface to safely and efficiently accommodate regional and local traffic. The paved shoulder will be widened from three to five feet to accommodate on-street bike traffic from Poser Road east to the end of the project. WIS 16 will remain open to through vehicular traffic throughout construction. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2010.

The public is encouraged to attend this meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvements will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
