Public meeting May 27 for US 41/WIS 29 interchange in Brown County
May 20, 2009
Reconstruction plans and design updates to be discussed
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a public information meeting to obtain comment on design plans for the reconstruction of the WIS 29 interchange at US 41 in Brown County. The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Lombardi Middle School, 1520 South Point Road in Green Bay. The meeting will have an open house format with a brief presentation at 5:30 p.m. These planned improvements are part of the US 41 Project in Brown County.
Proposed improvements include:
- Reconstructing the US 41/WIS 29 interchange to a systems interchange to allow directional, free-flow movements between US 41 and WIS 29.
- Local interchanges at US 41/Shawano Avenue and WIS 29/Packerland Drive.
- A Collector/Distributor (C/D) roadway along US 41 between Mason Street and Memorial Drive. The C/D roadway is a parallel roadway that provides access between closely spaced interchanges.
- Roundabouts to be built along Packerland Drive and Shawano Avenue. Roundabouts are also planned at the Shawano Avenue/Taylor Street intersection and the new South Frontage Road connection to County J.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and provide input concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvements will be displayed and roundabout information will be available. WisDOT representatives, including real estate staff, will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
