May 20, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $135,500 project for planning documents at the Hartford Municipal
Airport. The Governor's action releases $3,387 in state funds create an airport master plan and
update the airport's layout plan. The city of Hartford is contributing $3,388 to the project and

According to Matt Malicki, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will help the airport with orderly growth. The master plan will look at
all components of the airport, from facilities to users, to determine what development alternatives
fit with the airport's desired growth. The airport layout plan will be updated to reflect the
results of the master plan.
The project is scheduled to begin in May 2009 should be completed by May 2010.
Along with the primary runway, facilities at the Hartford Municipal Airport include a
2,250-foot turf airstrip. There are some 70 aircraft based at the airport and approximately 16,000
aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) each year.
