Improvements to Porter Road overpass in Plover to begin May 26
May 21, 2009
Improvements to the Porter Road overpass, located over I-39/US 51 in the village of Plover, are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 26.
Zenith Tech is the prime contractor for the project. Improvements include replacing the structure with a wider deck that will accommodate increasing traffic volumes and bicyclists.
Construction is scheduled for completion by September 2009.
The bridge is currently closed and will remain closed throughout construction.
Nighttime closures of I-39 will be necessary for the removal of the existing deck and girders and when new girders are set. There are six anticipated closures of I-39 (three in the northbound direction, three in the southbound direction). During the freeway closures, I-39 traffic will be detoured along County B, Business 51 and County HH.
A combination of federal, state and local funding will be used to pay for the improvements.
