I-43 project scheduled to start June 1 in Walworth County
May 21, 2009
As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and
stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $8.5 million project to
improve 16 miles of I-43 between the Rock County Line to US 12 in Walworth County.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 1. The project will include concrete pavement replacement, asphalt shoulder replacement, and work on various bridges throughout the project. The improvements will provide a smoother driving surface and maintain safe highway shoulders.
The roadway will remain open to traffic throughout construction; however, single lane closures will occur in three-mile intervals.
The contractor, Payne and Dolan, Inc. is scheduled to complete the project by mid-October, weather permitting.
80 percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
