Public meeting June 2 for US 41 in Winnebago County

Meeting to focus on 2009 construction projects and final design for WIS 21 to WIS 45

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a public information meeting on construction projects for US 41 from WIS 21 to US 45 in Winnebago County starting in 2009. The WIS 21 to US 45 project begins just south of Witzel Avenue/County E and extends to Fountain Avenue, one mile north of US 45. The open house meeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the US 41 Winnebago County Field Office, 2905 Universal Street, Oshkosh (west of Prime Outlets at the WIS 44 interchange). There will be a brief presentation at 5:15 p.m.

2009 construction projects to be discussed include:

  • Replacement of Witzel Avenue overpass
  • Construction of roundabouts at Washburn Street and Koeller Street intersections with Witzel Avenue
  • Reconstruction of Washburn Street between Witzel Avenue and WIS 21
  • New overpass south of US 45 extending Lake Butte des Morts Drive over US 41, providing connection to Wiouwash Trail
  • Widening of Lake Butte des Morts causeway to accommodate US 41 expansion
  • Construction of roundabout at US 45 intersection with realigned West Fernau Avenue and Lake Butte des Morts Drive
  • New overpass north of US 45 interchange to connect Fountain Avenue and West Snell Road
  • Widening exit ramps at WIS 44 and WIS 114 interchanges
  • Construction of a wetland mitigation site west of US 41 and north of County Y

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning the projects. Maps showing the improvements will be on display and construction schedule information will be available.
