Culvert replacement project to begin May 29 on WIS 27
May 26, 2009
Detour route planned
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will be starting a series of improvements to WIS 27 this week from the Sawyer/Bayfield County line to the Douglas County line, beginning with a culvert replacement project.
Starting Friday, May 29, WIS 27 will be closed to through traffic from County N to the Sawyer/Bayfield County line. Residents and emergency services will be allowed access to the project. However, during the periods when open trenches exist for the replacement project, the highway will be impassable. Residents will need to utilize local roads to get around the project. The detour route consists of Bayfield County N to US 63 south to Hayward. WIS 27 will re-open to traffic until June 24 or 25.
Other work that is planned for approximately 14 miles of WIS 27 in 2010 include: realigning Lake Road and Twin Bay/East Shore Road intersection, resurfacing the roadway and decreasing erosion problems and vehicle roll-over potential by flattening the roadway slope.
