WIS 181 project in Ozaukee County scheduled to start week of June 1

May 27, 2009

As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has approved an $2.3 million project to improve 3.6 miles of WIS 181 (Wauwatosa Road) from Mequon Road to Pioneer Road in Ozaukee County.

Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 1. This project includes pavement replacement and reconstructing the intersections to help improve safety by providing turn lanes. In addition, traffic signals will be installed at Wauwatosa Road and Highland Road.

Through traffic along WIS 181 will be detoured during construction using Mequon Road, I-43, and Pioneer Road. WIS 181 will be open to local traffic for access to homes and business.

The contractor, Stark Asphalt, a division of Northwest, is scheduled to complete the project by late August, weather permitting.
