Governor Doyle approves $276,129 project at Hartford Municipal Airport
June 4, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $276,129 project to construct a snow removal equipment
building and buy a box plow attachment for snow removal machinery at the Hartford Municipal
Airport. The Governor’s action releases $6,903 in state funds for the project and the city of
Hartford is contributing $6,904. The Federal Aviation Administration is providing
$262,322.
According to Matt Malicki, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will help protect the federal, state and local investment in the
airport equipment by enabling it to be stored in a heated facility. Additionally, the box
plow attachment for the snow removal equipment will allow the airport to plow more efficiently near
hangars and other airport buildings.
The project is scheduled to be completed by August 2009.
Along with the primary runway, facilities at the Hartford Municipal Airport include a
2,250-foot turf airstrip. There are some 70 aircraft based at the airport and approximately
16,000 aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) each year.
