Governor Doyle approves $92,056 project at Tri-County Regional Airport
June 4, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $92,056 project to rehabilitate pavements at the Tri-County
Regional Airport in Lone Rock. The Governor’s action releases $2,301 in state funds to crack
seal and sealcoat airport pavements. The counties of Sauk, Iowa and Richland are contributing
$2,302, and the Federal Aviation Administration will provide $87,453.
According to Matt Malicki, airport engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation,
the project will provide a new surface course, help prevent water infiltration and minimize
oxidation effects, both of which cause pavement deterioration.
Work on the project will begin mid-summer 2009, and should be completed by summer’s end.
The Tri-County Regional Airport is located approximately two miles north of Lone Rock,
Wisconsin, and six miles west of Spring Green. There are 27 aircraft based at the airport and
approximately 12,000 take-offs and landings each year.
