Governor Doyle approves $170,354 project at Clintonville Municipal Airport
June 4, 2009
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $170,354 project to rehabilitate pavements at the
Clintonville Municipal Airport. The Governor’s action releases $4,259 in state funds to crack
seal and sealcoat airfield pavements. The city of Clintonville is contributing another
$4,259, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $161,836.
According to Michael Gabor, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will provide a new surface course to help prevent water infiltration,
and minimize oxidation effects, both of which cause pavement deterioration.
The project is scheduled to begin in mid-summer 2009 and should be completed by summer’s end.
Facilities at the Clintonville Municipal Airport include the 4,600-foot primary runway, the
3,300-foot secondary runway, and a 2,040-foot turf airstrip. There are some 40 aircraft based
at the airport and approximately 8,000 aircraft take-offs and landings occur each year.
