Governor Doyle approves $710,137 project at the Richland Airport
June 4, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $710,137 project to construct a hangar building, perform
pavement maintenance, and acquire land at the Richland Airport near Richland Center. The
Governor’s action releases $5,281 in state funds to perform voluntary land acquisitions in the
runway approaches and seal pavement cracks. The city of Richland Center is contributing
$30,227 to the project and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $674,629.
According to Wendy Hottenstein, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the land acquisition will protect the runway approaches from encroachment of
potential aviation obstructions or hazards.
The project is scheduled to begin in June 2009 and should be completed by November.
Facilities at the Richland Airport include a 3,200-foot paved runway and a 1,500-foot turf
airstrip. Ten aircraft are based at the airport and approximately 9,200 aircraft take-offs
and landings occur each year.
