Public meeting June 18 for WIS 33 in Ozaukee County

Meeting to focus on proposed reconstruction

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region in Waukesha is announcing a public information meeting to discuss the proposed reconstruction of WIS 33 (E. Green Bay Avenue / W. Grand Avenue) from the Milwaukee River Overflow Bridge to South Tower Drive in Ozaukee County. The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the Saukville Village Hall, 39 E. Green Bay Avenue, Saukville.

The proposed reconstruction project from the Milwaukee River Overflow Bridge to I-43 includes:

  • New pavement
  • New curb and gutter
  • Intersection improvements at Foster Drive
  • The addition of a two way left turn lane near the village hall
  • Storm sewer upgrades
  • Concrete sidewalks
  • Additional bike provisions
  • Landscaping
  • Lighting

The proposed reconstruction project from I-43 to South Tower Drive includes:

  • New four-lane divided roadway
  • New curb and gutter
  • Three roundabouts
  • Intersection improvements
  • Additional turn lanes
  • Raised median
  • New storm sewer system
  • Concrete sidewalks
  • Bike lane or path provisions
  • Landscaping
  • Lighting
  • The removal of the County LL bridge over WIS 33

The meeting will be held in an open house format with a short roundabout education presentation. Representatives from the city of Port Washington, the village of Saukville, WisDOT and Ayres Associates will be present to explain the roadway plans, answer questions, and receive input on the project. Persons with an interest in the project area are encouraged to attend and provide information to the project staff.

The public informational meeting site is wheelchair accessible.
