Public meeting June 24 for WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) project in Waukesha County

June 8, 2009

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) announced a public information meeting to discuss proposed improvements to WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) from WIS 16 to WIS 74 in Waukesha County. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the city of Pewaukee City Hall - Common Council Chambers, W240 N3065 Pewaukee Road, Pewaukee.

The project is approximately two and a half miles. Proposed improvements include:

  • Repair the existing roadway from WIS 16 to west of Cecelia Drive.
  • Repair and overlay the existing roadway with hot mix asphalt from west of Cecelia Drive to WIS 74.
  • Reconstruct the area of WIS 74 and replace the bridges over WIS 74. These bridges will also be widened to accommodate future lanes.
  • Repair and overlay the ramps at WIS 74.
  • Dual left turn lanes will be built at the ramp connecting westbound Capitol Drive and WIS 74 southbound.

Construction along this segment of Capitol Drive is currently scheduled for spring of 2012 and the segment between WIS 74 to Mayfair Road is scheduled for spring of 2011. Each segment of Capitol Drive is being designed as an individual project and will hold separate public information meetings. In addition to the two roadway improvement projects a corridor study is currently underway for Capitol Drive. Separate meetings will also be held for this study.

The meeting will be conducted in an open house format. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
