Governor Doyle approves funding for US 12 in Eau Claire County
June 10, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $951,000 contract to improve nine miles of US 12 between County M and US 10 near Augusta. The project was advanced using funds provided by the ARRA.
'Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,' Governor Doyle said.
Mathy Construction Company is the prime contractor. The road maintenance project consists of milling and replacing two inches of the roadway surface. A concrete overlay of the existing bridge over Bridge Creek will also be done as part of the project.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin June 11, 2009 and completed by the end of July 2009.
During construction, US 12 will remain open to traffic at all times with the use of flagging operations. The bridge will be reduced to a single lane of traffic utilizing temporary signals.
