WIS 57 project in Milwaukee County scheduled to start June 15
June 15, 2009
As part of his ongoing 'Grow Wisconsin' initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has approved an $2.9 million project to improve 1.9 miles of WIS 57 (N. Green Bay Avenue) from Marne Drive to Good Hope Road in Milwaukee County.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 15. Work will include resurfacing the existing roadway with new pavement, updating pedestrian accommodations and installing traffic signals at the W. Florist Avenue and W. Mill Road intersection.
The roadway will remain open during construction; however, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The contractor, Payne and Dolan, Inc., is scheduled to complete the project by October, weather permitting.
80 percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with local funding.
