Special hours announced for Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay

June 25, 2009

These hours apply only to mariners

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation - NE Region in Green Bay is announcing special operating hours for the Michigan Street bridge in Sturgeon Bay. These hours remain in effect until July 10 and only apply to mariners, as the bridge remains closed to vehicle traffic. The bridge is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

The operating hours are:

  • One leaf of the bridge will remain open from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
  • Both leaves will be in the upright position at all other times.

Mariners requiring both leaves of the bridge to open should give two hours advance notice by calling (906) 458-2105 or (715) 572-6295.

The contractor may maintain two work barges under the closed portion of the bridge. These barges will be moored outside the navigation channel. Mariners should remain in the navigation channel when transiting the construction site.
