Crews repairing pavement blowups on US 53 in Eau Claire County Thursday
June 25, 2009
The recent high temperatures caused areas of pavement to blow-out on southbound US 53 on Tuesday. The temporary repairs made Tuesday did not hold and highway crews were back Wednesday afternoon patching the pavement again.
Crews temporarily repaired the pavement until permanent repairs can be made Thursday, June 25. Motorists can expect traffic backups near the Melby intersection. Crews will have temporary, single lane closures when they put new concrete in the damaged area.
Motorists should also be aware of the Move Over Law in Wisconsin. The law requires drivers to shift lanes or slow down in order to provide a "safety zone" for a squad car, ambulance, fire truck, tow truck or highway maintenance vehicle that is stopped on the side of a road with its warning lights flashing.
