Governor Doyle approves $2.9 million for I-43 structures, Walworth County
June 26, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $2.9 million contract to improve six bridge structures on I-43 between US 12 and WIS 83 in Walworth County. The project was advanced using funds provided by the ARRA.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure.” Governor Doyle said.
Work on the structures is scheduled to begin the week of June 29, 2009. Completion is expected in November 2009.
Zenith Tech, Inc. is the prime contractor of the project. Construction includes new bridge deck overlays.
I-43 will remain open to traffic during construction but will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the work zones.
