WIS 50 project in Kenosha County scheduled to start July 13
June 29, 2009
As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has approved an $1.7 million project to improve the intersection of WIS 50 and County B in Kenosha County.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of July 13. Crews will update the intersection to include traffic signals, and left and right turn lanes on WIS 50 and County B. The improvements will increase safety and provide an improved intersection that meets current design standards.
WIS 50 will remain open during construction; however, lane closures will occur. County B will be closed to through traffic during the second stage of the project and will be detoured via WIS 50, WIS 75, County K and County C.
The contractor, Lalonde Contractors, Inc. is scheduled to complete the project by November 2009, weather permitting.
90 percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 10 percent will be paid with state transportation funding.
