Governor Doyle approves $2.8 million for US 45 in Vilas County
July 1, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $2.8 million contract to improve eight miles of US 45 between Vilas County K and the Michigan state line in Vilas County. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.
Northeast Asphalt of Appleton is the prime contractor of the project. Crews will repave US 45 with new asphalt and replace the box culvert at Pioneer Creek.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin on July 7, 2009. Work is scheduled to reach completion by the end of October 2009.
During construction, US 45 will remain open to traffic. Some sections of the highway may be reduced to one lane during daylight hours. Temporary traffic signals will be used during the Pioneer Creek culvert replacement.
